Football Game Preview: Clearview Clippers vs. Oberlin Phoenix

Clearview has gone 9-1 against Oberlin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Clippers will head out to take on the Phoenix at 7:30 p.m. Clearview will be strutting in after a win while Oberlin will be coming in after a defeat.

Clearview was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Brookside on Friday. The Clippers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cardinals 41-6. With the Clippers ahead 21-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

It was another big night for Kameron Williams, who rushed for 107 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries, and also threw for 104 yards and one touchdown. Those 107 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Christian Stevenson was another key rusher, rushing for 88 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Clearview was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 326 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Clearview's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Oberlin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against Columbia, falling 48-14. While losing is never fun, the Phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 647th, while the Raiders are ranked 249th).

Oberlin's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Clearview, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.

Everything came up roses for Clearview against Oberlin in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-0 win. Will the Clippers repeat their success, or do the Phoenix have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
