Baseball Recap: Ramona Extends Winning Streak to Nine

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Ramona had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Olympian Eagles by a score of 7-3. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Ramona got a great performance from Jakob Coxen as he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Derek Taylor was a standout: he got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Simpson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Ramona was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Ramona pushed their record up to 20-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Olympian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-13-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Ramona nor Olympian have any future games scheduled.
