Football Recap: Portola Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Portola unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Woodrow Wilson Bruins on Friday, falling 35-0. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Bruins from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Orion Suttle threw for 90 yards on six of 18 attempts. Jamal Abdelkarim was his top target, picking up 58 receiving yards. On the ground, Timothy Grettenberg rushed for 46 yards.

Kori Scott went supernova For Woodrow Wilson., rushing for 109 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Scott a new career-high. Jemel Grigsby got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Coming up, Portola will square off against Irvine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Woodrow Wilson, they will challenge Marina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
