Soccer Game Preview: Plainwell vs. Hastings

The Plainwell Trojans will head out to challenge the Hastings Saxons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Plainwell is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Norrix just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. Neither they nor the Knights could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result kept Plainwell happy, as they haven't lost a game since April 30th.

Meanwhile, Hastings came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.7 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Redhawks. Hastings' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three games.

Hastings' win bumped their record up to 7-8. With that draw, Plainwell's record moves to 10-3-1.

Everything went Plainwell's way against Hastings when the teams last played back in April of 2019, as Plainwell made off with a 5-0 victory. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Saxons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
