Baseball Recap: Maize Takes a Loss

Maize lost against Hutchinson on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eagles might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-1 to the Salthawks, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Luke Ethridge was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Maize saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Shaw, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Maize's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Hutchinson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maize will take on Kapaun Mt. Carmel at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hutchinson, they will square off against Saint Thomas Aquinas on Monday.
