Baseball Recap: Valhalla Norsemen vs. Granite Hills Eagles
Valhalla had lost ten straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-19 to make it 11. They came up short against the Granite Hills Eagles, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent loss being a 8-2 defeat two weeks ago.
Mace Wheeler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
As for Granite Hills, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 20-0-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Granite Hills' side, Luke Bailey made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Bailey has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Granite Hills got a big performance out of Trevor Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
