Football Recap: Eupora's Undefeated Season over After Six Games

It was a Battle of the Birds when Eupora challenged Velma Jackson on Friday. The Eagles took a 24-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.

Despite the loss, Eupora still got an impressive performance from Peyton Perkins, who rushed for 196 yards and one score while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 26 yards and a pair of TDs. Perkins' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.

Trevon Willis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Velma Jackson, rushing for 168 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also catching one score. Willis has become a key player for the Falcons: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Demontre Strange was another key player, rushing for 85 yards and one TD.

Having lost for the first time this season, Eupora fell to 5-1. As for Velma Jackson, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-3.

Eupora didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 38-6 win against J.Z. George on the 10th. As for Velma Jackson, they have also already played their next game, a 34-16 loss against Kemper County on the 10th.
