Vernon entered their tilt with Childress on Thursday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They escaped with a win against the Childress Bobcats by the margin of a single free throw, 47-46. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 45-42 back in November.

Vernon had a senior duo take command as Mijah Johnson posted 15 points and three steals and Marhianna Johnson put up 12 points and seven rebounds. Mijah is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Key'Maria Mcbride was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Childress, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
