Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Copper Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaiah Reiser, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 18 points. Reiser's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Wesley Curtis was another key player, going 6 for 11 en route to 17 points.
Meanwhile, Corner Canyon faced Bingham in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Corner Canyon fell just short of Bingham by a score of 66-63. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Chargers have suffered since November 27, 2024.
Copper Hills will have to keep a close watch on Bryton Valdes and Noah Bendinger, a pair of players who had a big impact on Corner Canyon's prior game. Valdes went 9 of 16 on his way to 24 points and seven assists, while Bendinger posted 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Bendinger has been hot for a while, having posted 17 or more points the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Mortensen, who put up six points.
Corner Canyon's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-7. As for Copper Hills, their win bumped their record up to an identical 11-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Copper Hills has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 23.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Corner Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Copper Hills came up short against Corner Canyon in their previous meeting on January 10th, falling 74-65. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bendinger, who went 7 for 17 en route to 27 points. Now that Copper Hills knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
