Basketball Recap: Katherine Huse's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Veritas Prep over Arizona Lutheran Academy

Veritas Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 58-42 bruising from the Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes. The Falcons lost against the Coyotes in their previous head to head back in February of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 59-22 score last time.

Veritas Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Katherine Huse, who posted 13 points and six rebounds. Those 13 points gave Huse a new career-high. Cate Schneider was another key player, going 5 for 11 on her way to 10 points along with six assists and five boards.

Veritas Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Veritas Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 31-28 win against Heritage Academy on the 28th. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 37-36 victory against Pima on the 25th.
