Basketball Recap: Velva's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Velva came tearing into Monday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Drake/Anamoose Raiders, posting a 96-40 win. The Aggies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.

Velva pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 90.3 points over those games. As for Drake/Anamoose, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Looking ahead, Velva will face off against Powers Lake/Burke Central at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Drake/Anamoose does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
