Baseball Recap: Riverhead Takes a Loss

Riverhead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Walt Whitman Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 on Tuesday.

Riverhead's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Walt Whitman, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

While Riverhead had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
