Baseball Recap: Forge Christian Beats Platte Valley for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Forge Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Platte Valley Broncos with a sharp 10-0 win on Saturday. Considering the Fury have won 14 matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ben McLean and Asher Garner did most of the damage at the plate: McLean went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Garner went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Garner has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sullivan Strange, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Forge Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Platte Valley only posted an OBP of .118.

The victory (which was Forge Christian's fifth in a row) raised their record to 24-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Platte Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 18-10 record.

As of now, neither Forge Christian nor the Broncos have any future games scheduled.
