Softball Recap: Menifee County Takes a Loss

If Menifee County was riding high fresh off their 17-1 takedown of Jackson City last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Menifee County came up short against the Morgan County Cougars on Thursday, falling 18-7. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Aubrey Golden made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Macy Wells, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Golden wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Menifee County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Menifee County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Morgan County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Menifee County will host Fairview at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Morgan County, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Morgan County Cougars duke it out with Elliott County Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
