Softball Recap: Topsail Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

After losing to North Duplin the last time they met, Topsail decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pirates walked away with a 5-2 win over the Rebels on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by exactly three runs.

Addison Ash spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Riley Trimble was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Topsail is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Duplin, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.

Topsail has already played their next contest, a 12-1 win against Swansboro on the 24th. As for North Duplin, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-0 victory against Hobbton on the 29th.
