Soccer Recap: Carthage Takes a Loss

If Carthage was feeling good fresh off their 4-0 takedown of Tatum last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Carthage Bulldogs took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Center Roughriders on Wednesday. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Roughriders recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Cooper Joines wasn't going to let Center walk away unscathed as he scored both of Carthage's goals, bringing his season total up to two goals.

Carthage's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Center, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Carthage and Center could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Carthage (ranked 644th) will meet Kilgore (ranked 59th) at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Center will take on Pine Tree at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday down 306 places (394 vs. 88).
