Soccer Game Preview: Wilkes Central vs. Ashe County

The Wilkes Central Eagles will take on the Ashe County Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Wilkes Central had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least four goals, but Elkin put an end to it on Monday. The Eagles took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buckin' Elks. Wilkes Central's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Ashe County waltzed into their matchup on Monday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. Everything went their way against the Vikings as they made off with an 8-2 win. Considering Ashe County have won 12 matches by more than two goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ashe County's victory bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Wilkes Central, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5-2.

Wilkes Central might still be hurting after the 5-1 defeat they got from Ashe County in their previous meeting back in September. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 5-0.
