West Lauderdale beats Newton County for their sixth straight win

Recap: West Lauderdale Knights vs. Newton County Cougars

The West Lauderdale Knights had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They strolled past Newton County with points to spare, taking the game 24-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as West Lauderdale also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2022.

West Lauderdale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was K.p Peoples out in front who rushed for 38 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 28 yards and a touchdown. West Lauderdale also got a significant boost from Caleb Collins, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 112 yards.

West Lauderdale's win was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.67 points. As for Newton County, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

West Lauderdale will be playing at home against South Pontotoc at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. South Pontotoc will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 210th, while West Lauderdale is ranked 63rd). As for Newton County, they will face off against Prentiss Christian at TBD on Friday. Prentiss Christian is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
