Basketball Recap: Sullivan East Falls Despite Big Games from Thomas Ridlehuber and Eli Hubbard

Sullivan East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They took a 70-53 bruising from the Unicoi County Blue Devils. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 125th).

Sullivan East's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Eli Hubbard, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 19 points and eight boards, and Thomas Ridlehuber, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 12 points. Ridlehuber is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played. Peyton Lingerfelt was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Leading Unicoi County to victory were Jackson Simmons and Kaden Cutlip. Simmons went 9-for-17 en route to 22 points and three steals, while Cutlip went 7-for-15 on his way to 18 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Koda Cutlip, who posted 11 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.

Sullivan East's record is now 4-22. As for Unicoi County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season.

Sullivan East has already played their next contest, an 80-44 defeat against David Crockett on the 15th. As for Unicoi County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-46 win against Happy Valley on the 13th.
