Softball Preview: Westview Wildcats vs. Glencoe Crimson Tide
The Westview Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Glencoe Crimson Tide at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Westview's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Glencoe's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Westview took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Oregon City, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Pioneers 3-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, Glencoe unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 8-4 to Barlow.
Irene Vandyke was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tuesday Mevis, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
The victory got Westview back to even at 5-5. As for Glencoe, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
