Basketball Game Preview: Jasper Pirates vs. Kingston Yellowjackets

Jasper is 2-8 against Kingston since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Jasper Pirates will host the Kingston Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Kingston will be up against a hot Jasper team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Jasper breezed by Lead Hill to the tune of 63-19 on Tuesday. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Tigers are ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Kingston humbled Lead Hill with a 64-12 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Kingston is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Jasper, their win bumped their record up to 17-9.

Everything came up roses for Jasper against Kingston when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 55-22 victory. Does Jasper have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kingston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
