Baseball Recap: Jefferson Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

While Jefferson's win against Bloomingdale wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Jefferson Dragons narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bloomingdale Bulls 6-4. The win was familiar territory for the Dragons, who have now won three matches in a row.

Ja'Marques Benton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Kaleb Cherry was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Logan Galban was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Jefferson's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Bloomingdale, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Jefferson will be taking part in a tournament against Gaither at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Gaither's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bloomingdale, they will challenge East Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Bloomingdale has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
