The Piedmont Hills Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Del Mar Dons at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Piedmont Hills has three straight victories, Del Mar has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Piedmont Hills and Oak Grove have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 37-14 win. Considering the Pirates have won three games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Piedmont Hills got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Diego Arias out in front who picked up 143 receiving yards and two scores, and also rushed for 41 yards. Arias' longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards. John Palomo was another key signal caller, throwing for 401 yards and four TDs while completing 76% of his passes.

Piedmont Hills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Travis Linane led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Arias also posted 143 receiving yards, which is notable because Piedmont Hills is undefeated when he posts at least 80 receiving yards, but 2-3 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Del Mar ended up a good deal behind Pioneer on Friday and lost 29-14.

Although Del Mar took the loss, they still got scores from Kyle Mcclements and Diego Lopez.

Piedmont Hills took their victory against Del Mar in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 34-10 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
