Leander hasn't had much luck against Cedar Park recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 925 yards in their previous games.
On Friday, Leander came up short against Rouse and fell 31-22. The Lions were right on the edge of victory: they outscored the Raiders in the fourth quarter 8-0.
Leander's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mason Montgomery, who rushed for 108 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, and Ke'Marion Gordon, who rushed for 89 yards and one TD.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Cedar Park's strategy against Lake Belton on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Timberwolves blew the Broncos out of the water with a 49-21 final score. The result was nothing new for the Timberwolves, who have now won three games by 24 points or more so far this season.
Leander better keep an eye on Trae Samuel Frost Hill. He was instrumental in Cedar Park's win, rushing for 229 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Those 229 rushing yards gave Samuel Frost Hill a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Cooper, who threw for 161 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cedar Park was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 334 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in nine consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Cedar Park didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of CJ Rogers and Madden Kiev. Rogers has been hot recently, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last four times he's played.
Cedar Park has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.7 points over those games. As for Leander, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Gordon and Samuel Frost Hill. Gordon just won't slow down this season and has run in 10 touchdowns while averaging 113.9 rushing yards per game. Samuel Frost Hill has been a dominant force too and has run in 18 touchdowns while averaging 156.9 rushing yards per game.
Leander ended up a good deal behind Cedar Park in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, losing 47-31. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
