The Fleming Island Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Tocoi Creek Toros at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fleming Island is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Fleming Island's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Flagler Palm Coast by a score of 4-0.
The result came thanks to Brooke Wilson's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, Lauren Abram was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
While Tocoi Creek didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Menendez on Friday. The Toros' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ryleigh Williams made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camdyn Hunt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Skye Fourman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Tocoi Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Fleming Island's record now sits at 3-1. As for Tocoi Creek, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-1.
Tocoi Creek's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fleming Island has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. It's a different story for Tocoi Creek, though, as they've only averaged .346. Will they be able to contain Fleming Island's hitters?
