Baseball Recap: Windsor's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Windsor's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the St. Charles Pirates. The win was some much needed relief for the Owls as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Keegan Murphy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Skyler Johnson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Windsor's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for St. Charles, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Coming up, Windsor will welcome Northwest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Owls are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for St. Charles, they will square off against Pacific at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
