Basketball Game Preview: Deerfield Spartans vs. Lakin Broncs

Deerfield hasn't had much luck against Lakin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Deerfield Spartans will head out to face off against the Lakin Broncs at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Deerfield is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They were beaten by Greeley County 58-24. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Jackrabbits are ranked 131st).

Meanwhile, Lakin came up short against Wichita County on Thursday and fell 56-48. The Broncs haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Lakin's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Deerfield, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.

Deerfield was dealt a bruising 56-18 defeat at the hands of Lakin when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Deerfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
