Volleyball Recap: Coal City Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

If Peotone wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Coal City, they should've done a better job of containing Jaela Vasquez. The Coalers came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 2-0 on Thursday with plenty of help from Vasquez, who had seven digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Peotone saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Stupegia had 14 digs.

Coal City has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8-1 record this season. As for Peotone, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Coal City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Pontiac on the 20th. As for Peotone, they will venture away from home to square off against Bishop McNamara at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
