Sonny Flores and Gabe Archuletta did some serious damage despite the final result: Flores went 3-for-5 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Archuletta got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Flores is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Maez, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.
San Juan hit Bayfield with a eight-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolverines came up short against the Broncos, falling 18-6. The loss continues a trend for the Wolverines in their meetings with the Broncos: they've now lost three in a row.
Tavian Box was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. He has become a key player for Bayfield: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least three RBI, but 2-10 otherwise. Hudson Tischer was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.
Bayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Ignacio, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ignacio has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Bayfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .470. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
