Basketball Recap: Hammond Takes a Loss

Hammond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 47-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Augusta Christian Lions. The Skyhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Augusta Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Schwarz, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Cooper, who had 11 points.

Hammond's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Augusta Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-10.

Hammond will head out to challenge Cardinal Newman at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hammond is facing Cardinal Newman at the right time seeing as Cardinal Newman is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Augusta Christian, they will host Heathwood Hall Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Augusta Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
