Houston County waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They rang in the new year with a 49-42 victory over the Perry County Vikings. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-50 back in December of 2024.

Houston County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hagan Honeycutt led the charge by going 5 of 8 on his way to 16 points. Mac Baggett was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 12 points.

Houston County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Perry County, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
