Recap: Hughes Lions vs. Mt. Pleasant Tigers
The Hughes Lions were the 74-46 winner over the Mt. Pleasant Tigers when they last played one another back in November of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. Hughes suffered a rough 67-46 defeat at the hands of Mt. Pleasant on Monday.
Ryan Benderman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mt. Pleasant, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Benderman is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hayden Holt, who scored 15 points.
Hughes' defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-4. As for Mt. Pleasant, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hughes will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wayne County at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. After both having extra time off, Mt. Pleasant and Hampshire will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Hampshire comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
