Football Game Preview: Gardiner vs. White Sulphur Springs

Gardiner will challenge White Sulphur Springs on the road at 1:00 PM on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Gardiner and White Sulphur Springs will really light up the scoreboard.

Gardiner have had to suffer through a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were fully in charge last Saturday, breezing past Lima 63-7. Gardiner were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.

Meanwhile, their game two weeks ago wasn't at all kind to White Sulphur Springs, but their most recent game may have softened the blow. They walked away with a 42-28 win over Valley Christian.

Their wins bumped White Sulphur Springs to 4-2 and Gardiner to 2-5. In their victory, Gardiner relied heavily on junior Elijah Byrd, who rushed for 226 yards and 3 touchdowns. White Sulphur Springs will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
