Basketball Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

Martinsville was the 55-48 winner over Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine when they last played one another last Sunday, but their luck changed this time around. The Martinsville Bluestreaks fell just short of Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine by a score of 37-35 on Thursday.

Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Genna Kidwell led the charge by putting up 12 points and three steals. Kidwell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 40 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorie Weber, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Martinsville dropped their record down to 10-13 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine, their victory bumped their record up to 11-15.

Martinsville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-29 defeat against Ramsey on the 7th. As for Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine, they have also already played their next game, a 76-17 loss against Newton on the 10th.
