Basketball Recap: Destiny Burks Key Part of a Team Effort in Colts Win

Rivercrest hadn't done well against Walnut Ridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Rivercrest Colts walked away with a 54-45 win over the Walnut Ridge Bobcats. The victory continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won three in a row.

Rivercrest got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Destiny Burks out in front who posted 24 points and seven boards. Burks has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gabby Harris, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Rivercrest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Rivercrest's record is now 17-9. As for Walnut Ridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-17.
