Basketball Recap: Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys vs. Hebbronville Longhorns

In what's become a running theme this season, the Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They really took it to Hebbronville for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-31 win at home. Winning may never get old, but Falfurrias sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Falfurrias had a senior duo take command as Viktor Perez dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds and Marcos Gonzalez scored 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Perez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Quisto Sanchez, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.

Hebbronville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alejandro Vasquez, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and two steals. jose garcia was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.

Falfurrias pushed their record up to 25-3 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Hebbronville, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-19.

Falfurrias will head out on the road to challenge the Vaqueros at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. San Diego has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 236 points over their last four contests. As for Hebbronville, they will be playing at home against the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Gertrudis Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Longhorns in Texas (the Lions are ranked 785th, while the Longhorns are ranked 1575th).
