Basketball Recap: Murphy Gets the Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Murphy). In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 76-75 victory over the Polk County Wildcats. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Murphy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cale Harger out in front who posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave Harger a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Golden, who put up 16 points.

Murphy's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Polk County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Murphy and Coosa will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Murphy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Coosa likes a good challenge. As for Polk County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Murphy at 8:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
