Soccer Game Preview: Sherando vs. James Wood

Sherando hasn't had much luck against James Wood recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Warriors will head out to take on the Colonels at 7:00 p.m. Sherando's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, Sherando didn't have quite enough to beat Millbrook and fell 2-1. That's two games in a row now that Sherando have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, James Wood had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Pioneers. Given James Wood's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Millbrook are ranked 204th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

James Wood's win bumped their record up to 10-3-2. As for Sherando, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Sherando skirted past James Wood 1-0 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
