Softball Recap: Julian Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Julian took a 17-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bonsall, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Legionnaires on Tuesday, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since May 15, 2024.

Hailey Bennett was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 20 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Those 20 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played.

In other batting news, Lara Arabian and Charlee Sparks did most of the damage at the plate: Arabian scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Sparks got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Arabian a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Avalina Magante-Ortiz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Julian's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7. As for Bonsall, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-3 record.

Coming up, Julian will take on Mountain Empire at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Redhawks have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Bonsall, they will challenge Victory Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
