Basketball Recap: American Leadership Academy's Run of Six Straight Victories Now Over

After flying high against Paradise Valley Christian Prep back in December of 2024, American Leadership Academy came back down to earth. American Leadership Academy lost 86-66 to the Academy with Community Partners Lions on Friday. American Leadership Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-28.

Despite the loss, American Leadership Academy still got an impressive performance from CJ Christopher Williams, who posted 41 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. That was a full 62.1% of American Leadership Academy's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Jones, who put up 15 points.

Academy with Community Partners got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Chatman out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Chatman a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Romario Anderson, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds.

The loss snapped American Leadership Academy's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-3 record. As for Academy with Community Partners, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

American Leadership Academy has already played their next matchup, an 82-73 victory against Berean Academy on the 16th. As for Academy with Community Partners, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-28 win against BASIS - Mesa on the 13th.
