Basketball Recap: Decatur's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Decatur lost against Kent-Meridian back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Decatur Golden Gators fell to the Kent-Meridian Royals 66-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (60), the Golden Gators still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Decatur still got an impressive performance from Dominique Degrate, who went 9 of 14 en route to 20 points and seven boards. The match was Degrate's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dar Mcjimpson Jr, who posted 14 points.

Even though they lost, Decatur smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Decatur's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9. As for Kent-Meridian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.

Decatur didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-32 loss against Federal Way on the 24th. Kent-Meridian has also already played their next match, a 92-50 defeat against Auburn Mountainview on the 24th.
