Steele (Cibolo, Texas) snapped Roosevelt (San Antonio, Texas)'s 5-game winning streak, with a 45-0 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Justin Stockton in the first quarter, the Knights led 35-0 at the half.
Steele expanded its lead to 38 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS's lone score in the quarter came on a field goal.
Breylann McCollum and
Matthew Mayle teamed up to form a dynamic passing combination. Mayle caught three touchdowns and McCollum threw three. Mayle has now caught three touchdowns this season, while McCollum has thrown 12.
The Cibolo school went into the matchup giving up only 12.9 points per game. The zero points that the Rough Riders ended with were well below their average of 30.7 coming into the game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Roosevelt, which notched a 41-7 victory over New Braunfels in its previous outing.
