Basketball Recap: Whale Branch Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Edisto, Whale Branch was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They secured a 52-48 W over the Lake Marion Gators. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Gators back in January, they had to take a 54-41 defeat.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Marion lost, don't look at Breion Shivers. Despite the final result, he went 10-for-22 to rack up 23 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of DeAnthony Terry, who posted eight points.

Whale Branch has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Lake Marion, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Whale Branch is set to challenge their familiar foe Hampton County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lake Marion will square off against rival Bridges Prep at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Shivers and TONY BROXTON.
