Baseball Game Preview: Washington County Bulldogs vs. Blacksher Bulldogs

Washington County is 2-8 against Blacksher since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Washington County will be playing in front of their home fans against Blacksher at 5:00 p.m. Neither Washington County nor Blacksher posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Washington County's offense. They came up short against Leroy on Tuesday, falling 6-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since March 28th.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Blacksher and St. Luke's Episcopal, and St. Luke's Episcopal kept the tradition alive. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2 on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by just one run.

Brayden Bailey was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Washington County and nudges their season record down to 11-19. As for Blacksher, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-9.

Washington County took their win against Blacksher in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-3 score. Does Washington County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Blacksher turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
