Softball Recap: Peyton Billings' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wilkes Central over Elkin

Wilkes Central was the 6-5 winner over Elkin when they last played one another on Friday, but their luck changed this time around. The Wilkes Central Eagles wound up with the same score they had in their last game (6-5), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Wilkes Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Billings, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Billings has posted since back in March of 2024. Another was Mackenzie Jenkins, who scored a run and stole Two bases.

Wilkes Central's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Elkin, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Wilkes Central will challenge Hibriten at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elkin, they will square off against North Stokes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give Elkin their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
