Softball Recap: Knox Central Comes Up Short

After flying high against Barbourville on Monday, Knox Central came back down to earth. The Panthers fell just short of the Clay County Tigers by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Panthers who fell 8-6 when the teams previously met back in April of 2024.

Jayme Swafford made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Knox Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-1. As for Clay County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season.

Knox Central will take on Lynn Camp at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Clay County, they will square off against Middlesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.18 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
