Softball Game Preview: Greater Latrobe Wildcats vs. Penn-Trafford Warriors

Greater Latrobe is 1-6 against Penn-Trafford since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Greater Latrobe 3.3, Penn-Trafford 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

It was a proper cat-fight when Greater Latrobe challenged Franklin Regional on Tuesday. The Wildcats took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Penn-Trafford had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Wednesday. They never let the Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

Penn-Trafford's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Greater Latrobe, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Greater Latrobe couldn't quite finish off Penn-Trafford in their previous matchup two weeks ago and fell 4-2. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
