Softball Recap: Tustin Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Anaheim, Tustin was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Estancia Eagles with a sharp 10-3 victory. That looming 10-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tillers yet this season.

Emery Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Samantha Reyes was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in triples (two). Izzy Villareal also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Tustin's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1. As for Estancia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Tustin will head out on the road to challenge Newport Harbor at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Estancia, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Estancia Eagles challenge Santa Ana Valley Falcons at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Their pitchers better be ready for this one: Santa Ana Valley has averaged an impressive 13.1 runs per game this season.
