Softball Recap: West Gets the Win

West won the last time they faced Oak Ridge and things went their way on Friday too. West never let Oak Ridge get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. That's two games straight that the Rebels have won by exactly five runs.

The result came thanks to Brooke Weaver's shutout, as she gave up just three hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, West let Joli Bush and Ava Humphreys run wild. Bush went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run, while Humphreys scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That triple marked the first that Bush hit this season.

The victory got West back to even at 4-4. As for Oak Ridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

West and Oak Ridge could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. West will face off against William Blount at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 123 places (144 vs. 21). Meanwhile, Oak Ridge (ranked 201st) will meet Knoxville Catholic (ranked 100th) at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
