Baseball Game Preview: Estacado Matadors vs. Liberty Patriots

The Estacado Matadors will venture away from home to challenge the Liberty Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Estacado comes in on four and Liberty on ten.

Estacado is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Snyder with a sharp 13-3 victory on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Liberty made easy work of Levelland on Thursday and carried off a 16-10 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Jaidon Eddins looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Levi Walker was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (three). Another player making a difference was Gavin McPherson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.

Liberty's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Estacado, their record now sits at 12-14-1.

Estacado came up short against Liberty when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 9-6. Can the Matadors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
